Kultida Woods, the woman who stood firmly by Tiger Woods’ side throughout his life and career, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 78. Her staunch support helped shape one of the greatest golfers of all time, making her an essential part of his journey.
Tiger shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram, writing:
“My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter—without her, none of my personal achievements would have been possible. She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie.”

Despite the emotional tribute, Tiger did not disclose the cause of her death.
Kultida, originally from Thailand, was a familiar face at many of her son’s tournaments, always watching with quiet pride. She stood by him during some of his darkest moments and never wavered in her belief in him.
Even in recent weeks, the Thai native had been seen supporting him, most recently during his appearance at a Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) match.
Her passing comes nearly two decades after Tiger lost his father, Earl Woods, in 2006. Earl, who played a crucial role in coaching his son in the early years, died at the age of 74 after a long battle with prostate cancer. He had first been diagnosed in 1998, and his health had deteriorated in the final months of his life.
With both of his parents now gone, Tiger faces another difficult chapter in his life.
Details on Tiger Woods’ Parents Ethnicity and Nationality
Tiger Woods’ parents, Earl and Kultida Woods, come from diverse ethnic and national backgrounds, contributing to Tiger’s rich multicultural heritage.
His dad, Earl was born in Manhattan, Kansas, and was an American citizen. He identified as African American and also acknowledged having European and Native American ancestry. His mother, Maude Carter Woods, was of mixed African and European descent.
On the other hand, his mom, Kultida Woods (née Punsawad) hailed from Kanchanaburi, Thailand, making her Thai by nationality. She possessed a mixed ethnic background, including Thai, Chinese, and Dutch ancestry.
Tiger has often described his own ethnicity using the term “Cablinasian,” a blend of Caucasian, Black, American Indian, and Asian.
